Ron,

Branch is the accepted professional on head work. I'm sure there are others out there that do good work. Someone else may be able to point you in their direction.

Depends on what you want done. Branch wouldnt be what I call a top head porter for a twin cam head. His port work is a "one size fits all" routine. Actually he doesnt do much to the ports, he hogs em out a bit. Most of the work he does is to the chamber itself, and its really unecessary, and from the few sets Ive had a chance to play with, I find the weld work done to the combustion chamber inhibits air flow velocity from the ports. He also cuts the deck(.050-.060) a good chunk too to get to a good street compression, since you dont have much choice with pistons due to his design.

I know Branch Flowmetrics has a name out there, but IMO, its more the name than the performance now.

So if you have a set of stock heads and want them "reworked" you need to be more specific on what you want done, the cam you plan to use or the powerband you want your engine to be strong in, along with your budget. I can give alot of good recommendations from there.

I've got to agree with MegaHDman re thinking through what it is you want from your build: where you want the power, how much power, what cam you'll use - and how much you want to spend before recommending a porter. Re Branch specifically - I lack the experience with his products, but have consistently heard the same input from local builders I know.

To answer your original question, here is a list of porters, it's by no means comprehensive and anyone overlooked is an omission on my part. When you've got a clear idea of what you want, you'll be able to get good input and make your decision as to who you want to work with. Good luck.

magahdman,
I responded to a thread on this page about Vance & Hines exhaust as well as other questions yesterday. Did you get a chance to read it? It would save me boring you to death with the same questions today. Thanks
