I've never heard of any blueing on V&H pipes. Not to say it can't happen . . .
The shields on my BSS are esentially 220 - 270 degree coverage and 360 degree coverage at the tail ends. I guess they are removable but I think you'd have to the pipes off to make it easier. They come in two peices - the pipes and the heat shields. You slide the pipes into the heat sheilds, attach with the metal hose clamps and slap them on the bike.

I'm a fanatic like you when it comes to little details like that.
The blue on my V&H big radius does not show nowhere when
just looking at the bike. If you start looking from underneath,
well perhaps but not at a glance.

Do the heat shields cover the area that would be seen in the reflection from the chrome oil tank on the Big Radius and BSS? My stock rear pipe is blued and shows since the oil tank is like a mirror.
