Higher octane = a slower burn (all else being equal) and in no way can higher octane lead to more detonation. That's completely backasswards. That's not to say that higher octane is always better, it's not. Anything higher than what necessary to prevent detonation will not help power and can actually hurt power.

I usually run non-oxygenated 92, with a gallon of 110 racing fuel mixed in. She runs real nice on this combination.

I was over in WI during engine break-in a few weeks ago and had to put in some 89 w/ 10% ethanol; I could tell the difference. A friend of mine gave a couple of 1 oz. bottles of Liquid Horsepower that I have had thrown in my bags on the bike. I dumped in a bottle and it seemed to improve things. That's the only thing I have used and hopefully I won't have to use it often.

1 0z. of Liquid Horsepower raises your octane rating from 92 to 93. At$ 1.75per 5-gallon tank, vs. $ 1.50 to raise your octane rating from 92 to 94.2 using 10% (1/2 gallon) toluene, or 94.5 using 10% xylene.

"Red Neck Race Gas" 100LL from your local airport (blue in color). Its the least expensive alternative.

Most racing fuel is nothing more than hi-octane with a blend of toluene and xylene. Making your own ensures fresh ingredients, accurate mixing and lower cost.
