Mikuni carb sprays gas into air filter???
A good friend of mine has a 2001 Classic with a Mikuni carb. we found that when he turns the throttle, it sprays a mist of gas out of the carb into the air cleaner. The bike runs fine, just over 50,000 miles. He punched holes in the baffles in the mufflers and he was told that this could cause the problem. I was also told it could be an adjustment to the accererator pump. Anybody heard of this or had this problem? Also, if the problem is with the fact that he punched the holes in the baffles, any suggestions on slip ons with that carb? Cash flow is slow for him right now. Thanks in advance for any help with this problem.

Open the fuel bowl and find the jet, (main)?, with a small screwdriver,(the jet has a slot)turn it till it sprays the jet(of gas) directly at the needle in the middle.Or if you are careful!reach in the throat and turn it with some long nose pliers. test your aim, with engine off.
