Default SE cam change info

Ive been looking at cams for my scoot, and seeing the dynos for the se251, and 255, Im lookin at them. How does the 253 compare to them, if theres anyone using one? Looking for low end for moving the heavy bike up to 4k rpm mostly. Also, the SE catalog says valve springs need to be changed on the 251 and 253 cams, but not the 255. Are those who went 251, 204, etc, running them? Looking at staying stock 96" for now, maybe down the road a couple years pulling the motor apart and going all out. Running rineharts and an SE ac currently.

From what I understand Milder cams actually have better Torque numbers. That is what you are looking for if you are looking for something to give you that kick in the pants on a heavy bike. Check the numbers and dyno sheets if they are available. Look for better torque figures in the lower RPM range. Most people always look at the Horsepower numbers when we all really want the Torque.

Check out this write up from Big City Thunder. Keep in mind they do not sell Cams so they are just speaking on experience. http://www.bigcitythunder.com/pages/cam.html

Good Luck

the Latus HD site has dyno's for a number of different cam setups in the 07 103's including
SE 251,253,255,257,258.
http://www.latus-harley-davidson.com...13&start=1

There is also a cam comparison onthe 110 head to head , http://www.latus-harley-davidson.com...mid=4667#M4667
For low end torque , despite a lot of bad mouthing , the 255 has the best numbers , albeit it does run out of breath with stock heads at 4000.

I just had mine dyno'd with the straight Stage II kit /SERT /SE slip ons and got 92hp /111 lbs ft . (22hp/24lbs ft more than a stock 96/SERT)
