Default Air Cleaner Cover

I'm thinking about changing my football cover to just the round end cap . I have the old black rubber K&N filter , I don't really want to use the plastic HD flames , " LIve To Ride " etc. just because they are cheap junk ! I see much nicer , metal ones in the HD catalog but they have 5 or so mounting screws on the outer part instead of one center bolt . Are these a 2 piece cap or is there another air filter that is used with this design . Also any issues with using this smaller cover other than keeping it dry when washing the bike ( I don't ride in the wet stuff ) or maybe a little oil mark on the Levi's ? Any other good after market designs ? I've seen some as high as $300 , must be more to it than I can see .

Thanks , Dan

Default RE: Air Cleaner Cover

Dan, I don't care for the football-style AC cover either. I went with the round "Nostalgia" cover (with big *** center screw) from the EVO part of the catalog (I think) and a K&N air filter element that I think was a SE item. Also, the Harley shop sold me a rubber O-ring that glues on to the rubber on the K&N filter element that makes the round cover fit just right. Man, seems like a long time ago and I apologize if this isn't very clear. Anyway, it works great and looks like I want it to. Let me know if I can get some more detailed info. I've got part numbers around here someplace.

Default RE: Air Cleaner Cover

I got the Ness Big Sucker and the Nostalgia Evo AC cover. Changed the looks for the better, for sure.
