I thought 2 into 1 was supposed to be better
A buddy had his bike dynoed and the guy told him his V&H 2 into 1 was restricting the air flow andif he was to buy the Rinehart true duels he had at his boothhim he would be able to get 20 more HP and more torque out of it right then and there. Well my friend spent the $1000 for the new pipes and another dyno.My question is can a dyno tech manipulate the machine to make it read out better? The bike is stock exept for a SE air breather.

A good 2-1 pipe with equal legnth header pipes are the best way to go. If you dont have that they you are not running what would be called a true performance 2-1. The V-H pipe is ok and can be made to run well with some baffle work, the true deul pipe he spoke of my give him more top end but mainly what we see is a tq dip in the lower rpm range

wow..I hope he at least got a kiss..
He probably will see HP gains in the top end, but will never know it unless he routinely runs at about 5000 rpm. He most certainly lost low end torque.
Sounds like he bought an over priced set of duals to me.

I agree w/Steve.... ProPipe is decent, but better w/baffle mods.
Your buddy will probably see slightly higher PEAK HP, but +20 HP & Ft/lbs of torque ~ NO F'ing WAY! Not if the bike was equally tuned with both sets of pipes.
I hope he likes it, but I doubt that ridability will improve.

Even with my first go around with the Fatcat on my Stage II SG where I switched back to duals, I got 5 more HP with the Fatcat than duals. For me, the bike without higher CR, was where the torque didn't see much improvement between the two. I'm getting my bike retuned right now and will see after a full tune whatI have, but with the 10-1CR the Fatcat pulls harder through out the entire rev band, low-mid-high.

That, and with the Rineharts, you will often see a dip in the torque at about 2400-2700 rpm, then they will start to kick in, well above 3000 RPM. If you have a big inch engine, this is not too critical, but for a stocker, it is definitely noticeable.
2-1 is the way to go if you want low end torque with a pretty flat power band.
20+ hp and tq?, hell I would never build another engine if it was that simple to gain that much power.
