Rich,

Thanks for posting this info on the 02/06 heads.

IIRC the 06 intake port actually exits lower on the heads than the pre06 heads..

Just curious but what are you thoughts as to why the 06 heads flow better. Does the
area around the guide look different? Is the port diameter larger? Seems to me that
it's probably around the guide as the port seems to stall on the earlier models.

R Horn,hi,was wondering about your software programs, specifically if you have heard of Craig Walters of Walters Tech, based in Wisconsin? He has a computer program"Accelpro"I think Jims used to carry it,about 150$ a few years ago.I have no access to a flowbench, but you can do alot and save time with his program.Just curious as I cannot seem to reach him these days, thanks,Bob

Actually, the "Accellpro" software is pretty crude compared to the simulator that come from performance trends. Accel pro does not do any dynamic gas flow analysis. It only makes assumptions based on the performance selection. It does do a pretty good estimation as to whether or not you've got enough compression for a selected cam though. The power curve that it shows leaves a lot to be desired. The performance trends SW is much better as it has a gas flow model but it's sort of a single cylinder modeler and makes assumptions about collectors and intakes on mulit-cylinder engines. Bruce

Bruce, thanks,I had the Accelpro on another computer years ago and am now trying to re-aquire....so if a guy had both programs,it would be more accurate?I dont know, but it seems to me[rookie],making assumptions about intake flow and exhaust systems is quite a leap relative to their importance....that being said, your familiar so you should know. Can anyone buy the software you speak of?How much? Thanks for your time,Bob

I flowed all four heads again this morning just to confirm the data and they pretty much laid rite back on top of each other. Here is a shot of the Intakes. As for some of the changes, the port is slightly wider, Hd has run a cutter down through the seat and cleaned up the classic nasty spot they usuall leave.

The 06' heads do flow a better than the previous castings, but they still aren't what I would call a "performing" head.

Here is a shot of the Exhausts from Saturday and this morning. Also pretty much rite on top of each other other than at .200 and .250 lift on the Front 06 head flow was changed by 4. and 4.5 CFM but I was rushing do to workload I was supposed to be doing. Noted changes in the new heads are the intake seats better match the bowl and the port is roughly .200 wider.

Bob,

The Acelpro program is not real acurrate so I'd for for the Performance Trends package.
It does much better modeling.. The cool thing is that you can load the demo an run it
for a few days/couple weeks (not sure). Just be prepared to spend a few hours trying
to set up a motor. They have a Branch 113 evo model which is a good starting point..
I don't own this program but have done the demo a couple of times on different computers.

I think you can get an older version for about 150. Deluxe about 500.

No one ever claimed they were a performance head but seeing a 10% increase on Intakes and an 18-20+% inrcease on the exhausts is pretty big. Also a major reason for people to think twice about replacing them since the exhuast has always been a major issue.

Question for you have you always been an over opinionated D_CK?

Oh and here is a copy of the compare report. Facts Not Opinion. I will let other poeple make decisions and just help them with some information.
