I have tried a bunch of different pipes looking for quiet (bad ears) and performance. Here in ascending order of loudness are the pipes I have tried on a scale of 1-10 with 1 being the quietest:
'07 CVO Ultra take-offs  (66080-06A)         (1.0)   too much back pressure - hurt performance
'08 Ultra stock mufflers                              (1.5)   stock mufflers
SE street perf mufflers (64985-07) 2 piece   (2.5)   helped perf.- good low-end TQ
SE street perf mufflers (80491-07) 1 piece   (3.0)    helped perf. - good low-end TQ
SE II mufflers '06 version                            (6.0)   helped perf. - better HP over 4000 RPM

I have tried the SE one piece touring muffler and found them too loud with the true duals, the 4" SE touring mufflers were ok noise wise but I wasn't real happy with the sound,if I didn't like the sound of the S&S SPO'S I would have stayed with the 4" SE mufflers,if you can find someone that has the SPO'Sto hear them I think you would be sold on them if you could get by the size of them,I really like how they look but thats me.

For my 06 Road King I had been running V&H Ovals with V&H Dresser Duals. After about 3000 miles or so they were just too loud for me. I put the stock mufflers back on for now. I may stay with them but I have been looking at the H-D 65259-00 Touring Mufflers with theDouble Grooveend caps.
Has anyone tried this muffler with duals?

Bob,if these are the 4" mufflers I have tried them with tru duals, the new ones with an "A" behind thepart #are suppose to be a little different then what I had, they have a nice sound with a little bark to them and they help performance, you can ride all day with these and not be beat up by them.

One other option is ear plugs for long rides.
