Another stage I question

Another stage I question
Sorry, did a search and couldnt find what I needed. I asked my dealer how much for stage I and what entailed. Unfortunatley (depends how you look at it), the counter girl washot so I forgot what she said. I beleive for my 07 FLSTC it includes if go with aftermarket pipes, AC, SERT about $1200, oh and dyno time. I thought the ECM download was cheap and is different from SERT but she kept selling me the SERT $500.
Should I do this myself and get the PCIII?

RE: Another stage I question
Just did that myself. Stage I A/C kit with K&N filter- $140, SERT - $460, 2-into1 V&H pipes - $600, Install labor + misc parts (4 hours) - $262, Dyno - $150. So, $1200 is definitely in the ball park. What's this about the sticker price just being a down payment? Ouch. That doesn't count my other add-ons that I did myself. I better go ride and quit adding stuff.

I got a much better deal by going to a local shop that a friend recommended. For the stage 1 upgrade, I paid less than the dealer quoted me AND that included a whole new set of pipes (the dealer quote included SE slip-ons).

RE: Another stage I question
I'm thinking I dont need the SERT, all I plan on doing is pipes and AC. So, now my plan is to go with VH BSS, K&N kit, and PCIII and do work myself. That should keep me under a grand, correct? I may go with the quiet baffles as many here seem to say it sounds deeper but still loud enough to know I'm not on stockers. Any thoughts on wheres best place to get good price on all three items? Thanks.

Regarding my bike, I had the shop install new pipes (not just slip-ons), a new AC, and a carb re-jet. He also dyna-tuned it. The labor for everythingwas 3 hours (@ $75/hr), which seemed like a reasonable amount of time to me. Who knows, he might be faster than that, but it would have taken me all day or longer and I wouldn't have been able to tune it properly. For parts, he matched the price for pipes that I found on the net, the AC was the same prices as elsewhere, and the parts for the jetting were lower than elsewhere.
So, for your bike, I can't imagine that reprogramming the EFI takes much time. I guess you have to pay for the software update but you should be able to price that out along with the pipes and AC. Once you know the price of the parts, you can figure out how much they're dinging you for labor. If it seems excessive, call another shop and explain what you want. Either way, I'd ask them to break down the quote so you know how much labor they're charging you. Also, if you're handy at all, you should be able to install slip on pipes and the AC.

RE: Another stage I question
Krub, I like your true duals. Does the left leg get hot at all? Also did they dyno yours? Cause the SERT she was saying for me was $500 + Maybe she was including the dyno in my quote. I havent called back to clarify this as I really am leaning toward doing all the work myself.

RE: Another stage I question
Road dog my bike was not dynoed + I got all my parts 20% off from my dealer. I havent had a problem with the heat yet but then I havent touched the pipe with my leg. Btw the true duals only cost $10 more than V&h Long shots. I like the sound because now it comes from both sides insrtead of down one side.

If I'm only doing pipes and A/C do I need to buy a SERT or can Dealer just re-map ECM and Dyno tune?
