Cost for V&H Big Shots Install
Just got my '06 FB two weeks ago. It came with SEII slip-ons and a Stage I. I want to get a set of V&H Big Shots put on. I don't wrench - don't have the time or very good luck with anything other than putting on chrome goodies. Any idea as to what a reasonable price would be to get these intsalled? It's my understanding that I don't need a PCIII or anything like that - just need to get them on the bike. Thanks in advance.

I beleive that you will need a download or fuel management pipes to maintain your AFR (air-fuel-ratio), otherwise the bike may not run right and be way too lean due to the freer flowing exhaust.
My dealer quoted me once about $400 for the installation of V&H ovals and true dual head pipes. Not including a download, tuning, etc... That was just to bolt them up.

The October, 2007, issue of American Cycle has a tech article on doing the job on a Street Bob with photos of each step. Well worth the price of the mag. Doesn't look too complicated. I'm going to install V&H Pro Pipes on my Dyna when they get here next week, and I'm not much for wrenching.

RE: Cost for V&H Big Shots Install
Tom134, I purchased a set of Big Shots Staggered from American Classic Motors (ebay) and saved about 170.00 and installed them myself. The install was very painless and only took a couple of hours. Also, because I may not upgrade any farther than a Stage I, I installed a Fuel Pak instead of the PC III (also from ACM). I do have a friend that had trouble with the PC III because there was not an on-line map for his pipes and bike. He had to take it to the dealer for the install and had them do a Dyno (I think is required with the PC). Good Luck

mgoodwin4,
Thanks for the info! I ordered my pipes from the same place. How long did it take to get your pipes? I didn't order the Fuel Pack though. I'm going to run the bike and see how it goes. If it's rough and popping, I'll go with the Fuel Pack. How hard was the Fuel Pack install? I've heard it's just plug in and go. Appreciate the reply!

That is why I love my CARB on my 00 TC 88. LOL. Don't have to have the dealer play with the computer, or buy a expensive box. Just jet it! (I know, FI is the way to go for performance, and smoother running in the long run.) Really I can't imagine anyone paying to have their exhaust put on. I put on the V&H Longshots I have myself. With NO INSTRUCTIONS! They were used from a friend. He had them on his Heritige Soft Tail for several years. Let me have them for 100.00. Install was painless. Much easier than messing with the CAMS like I just did! LOL
Go for it, then everytime you fire it up, you will think,, nice. I did it myself too!

RE: Cost for V&H Big Shots Install
I put the FP on my 08 Fat Boy and it took about two hours and the reason why was that for the 08 FB the model number is the same as for the sportster and FB with 200 mm tire, so when the FP came in it had install directions for sportster. called Fuel Pak and in a manner of minutes they e-mailed the directions for the FB.Once i had directions in hand it took only about 20 minutes. I had the map for my bike already in hand and also had FP fax over a map just to make sure they were the same. If you do what it says there will be no problem, super easy. It just that everyone I talk to says that some sort of fuel management is needed. Either the Power Commander III, Fuel Pak or Race Tuner. Either way you will need something. I don't know what is the best PCIII($360.00 + dealer install 3 hours)will be better for any other up-grades after a Stage I, Fuel Pak($205.00 formACM and installed myself)just for Stage I and Race Tuner ($450.00+ dealer install). I don't know anything about RT recommended by the dealer that sold me my bike, that's what they use because the had problems with the PCIII and the dealer in my home town installs the PCIII with no problems. Go figure. That's why I did it my self and ended finding a small bike shop close that has a certified mech.
Good Luck
