heads&cam for stock tc88 ?
I'm thinking about doing engine upgrade this winter. I ride a 06 ultra with se a/c, duels se slip-ons &pclll.I was thinking about doing heads&cam only without 95kit. figure with right cam & heads I can bennifit just as much without the extra 7ci. I'm considering ss510gs& possibly se heads with port work.I'm looking for some input, am I way off base? would like suggestions on this.Any feedback would be great.

The 510, really likes a bit more compression and even then it is best above 3k RPM ~ which is realistically too high for a Bagger.
Mentor is right. The 0034 would be a much better choice as it would make a good difference in what you have now and be even better later if you add heads, bigbore & compression.
Don't waste time on heads now, if you're not ready to go for the bigbore now. However, if you were planning on heads, you'd have to pull the jugs to replace the base seals anyway. If you're already there, it would be silly not to go ahead end bump it up to 95".
The reason I say not to do heads yet, is because you really want to take advantage of the opportunity and set them up for your desired compression ratio, which is dependent on displacement as well. So... if you set them up for, say 9.5:1 on an 88', it will be different on a 95.
Do you homework before hand and do it RIGHT the 1st time.
Trust me!

Bartman: I am all in favor of building/finding the better mousetrap. But the cylinders don't get bored just to get 7", they get bored because you are going to need to change the pistons to work with the new heads and cams. You would also want to clean up the stockcylinders with some honing when building a more powerful engine. So the cost value of simply boring the stock cylinders is nominal, and buying pistons for the 95 is the same as the 88.
I'm not saying that building an 88 isn't wise or cost-effective; those are personal judgments.
Perhaps you should consider just doing a good set of bolt-on cams. The HQ-0034 would give you about 90/90 in hp/torque with a good tune.

Thanks to all for input. sounds like I would be better off just doing cams for now. After thinking about it more Ijust want a little more snort for 2up rideing(always like more power)plus only 17k on bike. might as well save dough till I realy need to do more.Adding cams should'nt be that much,Where is the best plase to get hq0034 cams? Thanks agin for suggestions.

Bartman ~ You can go here: http://www.head-quarters-usa.com/camshaftstwin.htmland buy them online by adding them to your cart and checking out ~ be sure to select the one you want, either chain or gear drive.
Another option would be to contact Shooter64 (Bart) on HDF and order them from him.

Edit... Looks like Bob beat me to it...
