Default engine light comes on while riding

o5 roadking, 17500 miles, just had the oil changed and while riding back home the engine light comes on then goes off. I check the oil when I get home and its level is just below the full hot mark, do I have a short? someone said it might be my stater going bad. Any ideas?? Whats it mean??

Do you have EFI? Take a look in your manual to see how to do this and remove the ground wire on the battery, remove to fuse for the ECM and then unplug the ECM. Leave it over night (12 to 16 hours). Reverse that to hook everything back up this should get rid of the check engine light. If this does not take care of it, you might have a bad sensor or something and will have to take it to the dealer so the can get the code and repair it. Good luck!

It's still under warranty, right? Go to the dealer and read the code

the engine light will not come on if your oil level is low or if the psi drops. Thats what the oil light is for. if the engine light comes on and goes of them most likely you have a historic code. That means there was a problem but it fixed it`s self. The light will also come on after you start the bike but will go out if it`s historic. after 50 ignition cycles it should go away but take it to the dealer to have them check and see what code or codes it`s tripping. might be a sign of future problems.
