Default drag pipes

Hey guys i just recently purchased 2 harleys. One 2007 fatboy which im going to use as my primary cruising bike. And one 2007 sportster which im going to use as like my show bike. I just purchased a 2 in 1 d&d fat cat for the fatboy with a quiet baffle. but for the sportster i want something obnoxiously loud. I know it will affect performance but this bike will just be used to show friends and the occasional trip to the bar. I've been told v&h short staggered and bubs jug hugger and bassani w/o the baffle is going to be the loudest I can get. Is that right? I was trying to find a good shorty drag pipe because i think this is the sound im looking for. Is martin brothers any good for drags pipes?

thanks for all posts im just for the info i need. The loudest illegal drag pipe i can get and where could i get it.

p.s. i dont live in a neighorhood i live in the middle of nowhere but occasionaly make trips into town

The cool thing about drag pipes is they are pretty cheap. I personally like the 1 3/4 inch staggered. Because of the small pipe you get that awesome barking on the decel. Try Milwaukee Twins or Santee.

I have V&H shorty duals (not the staggered ones) with the baffles and really like the sound. Loud and grave sound. I like them!!! They are 1 3/4 inch with the chrome coverage. You can see them in my signature personal web page.

I was always a Samson guy. Loved the big guns on my Sporty and have a set of the Bone Shakers for the rebuild. They're made for Softails, but since there's not any support brackets they fit the Sporty as well. Talk about loud!!!!!

i have the short shots, the legallity of noise that comes out depends from town to town on city law, if you rev your harley trying to show off its a ticket, and that is with the baffles, here in florida its $93 everytime if the cop really cares, with out the baffles its another good 10dbs louder and you bet that its awesome sounding, i had the baffles out and i had to put them back in for the trips to daytona and such. and you only loose about 3-4 hp depending on your setup with the baffles out. so its your choice either way they sound amazing.

We have open drag pipes on the 883, and have since about 1988 or so. It is, err, kinda loud. Revving it in front of Johnny Law would be an instant ticket, pretty much anywhere. I don't think you can really get much louder, but if I was going to try for some bizzare reason, I'd go with shorter and larger diameter pipes. Don't know what that would do for performance, though.
