Rienhart turning Gold??
My buddy has an 04 Wide glide F.I. Re-maped and Rienhart [Bubs] Big *******. The real long style. Has about 1500 miles on it.
The dealer [ Suffolk HD in Oakdale NY] did the Re-map and Pipes. The bike is all stock.
I just noticed yesterday when he stopped by to thaw out . He picked it up from warranty work [primary leak]
The top 6" or so of the HEAT Shields are turning Gold.
I have never seen this before. ??? comments Something ain't right.
Which color Blue or gold means LEAN ????
He has not pulled the plugs yet, I think it is running a bit lean. She has been in the garage for about 2 months before the warranty work.
PS the Pipes have the baffles removed.
Thanks

RE: Rienhart turning Gold??
May experience has been that when pipes change color it is because of excessive heat. Excessive heat is usually caused by a lean condition. If this is on a heat shield instead of the actual pipe, I don't know. Maybe defective chrome on the heat shield. I wouldn't expect there to be enough heat on the heat shield to cause a color change. The heat shield should be running considerably cooler that the pipe.

RE: Rienhart turning Gold??
Nevar, I had recently spoke about the quality problem's with the Reinhart pipe's but was told there was no problem by some of the guy's that have them but I've heard more bad than good, if the dealer did the remap let them check it out, maybe put it on a dyno to see if it's lean or not then if that's ok I would suggest calling Reinhart to complain and see if I couldn't get some new sheild's.

Thanks all .
Bruce The heat shields are turning Gold. just a hint of gold, but obvious Gold.
I rode back to the dealer with my Buddy [ the owner of the bike] last week. The Head tech came right out and said.
" Bubs [rienhearts] are cheap and have been having this problem" If it was MY bike they would marry me and it. he payed 20K for it.
To be honest the pipes look nice [ long style] but sound real tinny.
Thanks anyway guys. ME ? I'll stick with my Samson Big-GunIIs.

I can't speak for the non-dresser pipes, but I know a lot of people who have the Rinefarts and love them..First I ever heard of this problem...... Even through the threads, other than the expense (Valid) I have yet to see complaints about these pipes...
Anyone to prove me wrong here -(It's OK, I am used to it- wife tells me all the time I am wrong!)...
