Thunder Monsters
Just replaced the baffles in my V&H Longshots with Big City Thunder Monsters. The sound is awesome but after riding with them in for a while, I don't really feel a big increase in the low end, in fact, it feels as if I lost some power. Does any one have these baffles and have the same thing? I ride an 06 Deluxe stage 1 with carb. Maybe I need to re-jet again?

Mega, you may still be right, but I would like to hear some others who have had experiences both BCT and stock V-H..
I would certainly like to know because I have a set of BCTs in on the shelf waiting for the bike to be put back together and dynoed..

RE: Thunder Monsters
Well, I got to say I put my stock V&H baffles back in and the low end power that I was missing seemed to be back. The bike seemed more responsive and felt like it had a little more low end grunt. Before I had nothing, like I was runing straight pipes. I think I will leave the Thunder Monsters out for now.

RE: Thunder Monsters
When you went from the baffles to the venturis, you probably lost that low end grunt. While I wouldn't call the Thunder Baffles snake oil, they are suited for one purpose only; to regain some of the lost torque when running straight pipes. You went from a set of baffled pipes that offered pretty reasonable performance, to a set of pipes that were of lesser performance. You could drop a notch further by leaving the venturis out altogether! The venturis do offer less reversion than open pipes, but pipes with well designed baffles are superior in this area also.
Bottom line is that these venturis are for regaining some torque in open, straight, or drag pipes. And you won't regain all the low grunt lost by using them compared to the same pipes with good baffles.
For anybody wanting to use something like these venturis without spending a buncha bucks, go to a hardware store, buy some sweat-on copper pipe reducers that'll fit into your pipes, slip them into your pipes, and bolt 'em down. It'll cost you less than $10.

RE: Thunder Monsters
So, what you are saying is that a set of V-H pipes with stock baffles will out perform the same pipe with the BCT baffles?
Here I was all set to dump the stock baffles on my Big Radius and install a set of Thundermonsters to gain a little power and a lot of sound.
Any other experiences or opinions out there??
Thanks.
