Default RE: jet kits

I had some clown at one of my local Indy shops that did a Dyno tune on my RK back in April. I did a Cam Swap and installed a HQ jet kit. Which was a 46slow jet a Red needle and a 195main. I took it to this shop because I was leaving on a 2000+ mile trip in two day's. Well to make a long story short he was supose to be a pretty good tuner so HE SAID about 20 freakin time while I was their. Anyway this guy did a few runs and said I was too lean on the bottom and to fat on the top. So he swapped out for a stock needle and 48, and a 180 main. I left their with a $100.00 bill and a Pinging freakin Bike. OH and the seat of the pant's Dyno was a freakin dog, No power after 3500rpm it even showed it on the dyno. He kept on telling me it was my Cams. HQ-0039G's don't fall on their face at 3500RPM.
His dyno showed me at 92HP & 103TQ[sm=confused06.gif]that's kinda funny when I was at 98HP & 104TQ with the S&S 510G's before the swap. And I could tell it had lot more TQ & HP with the HQ cams after I tuned it by ear. I just wanted someone to fine tune it on their dyno thatknew what they were doing so I wouldn't blow it up on my trip. I ended up going back to the 46slow jet and it ran very very good. I was getting 40+mpg too, with all that being saidIve learned alot out tuning my Bike with a screw driver and I don't do this for a living. It's hard to find good help these day's, I'm just thankfull that I have a set of screw drivers and a wife that doesn't naag and bitch when I'm out wrenching on my scoot......

I've always said that because someone has a dyno, it doesn't make them a tuner like some shops think. There are very few GOOD tuners around that know how to tune a bike properly. When you find one, you'll know it !
