SE heads the skinny
I have a SE kit on my 99 , just read an article in this months AI about bilding TC, they pointed out that HArley stock heads are very lacking. coming from old street racing day I firmly believe that cams and head work is the first place to spend your money. My question is this article did not specify any thing about SE heads, can someone tell me what the problems with the them.

RE: SE heads the skinny
Personally I like the stock heads better than the SE heads. The stock heads IMO have more upside and potential with headwork. The SE heads have already been shaved and have a rather small combustion chamber. And still stcok they only accept up to a .575 lift cam. Alot of folks I know that have the standard SE heads still send them out for cleanup, or to replace the valves and set them up for high lift cams. But if you still have your stock heads, I would send those out for the work and sell off your SE heads(recoup more money back that way)

Mega,
If I recall you are a Washington State guy? Who does the best head work around here, or do you send them out of state? Do you have your own shop? If not, who would you trust in the Seattle Remond area? Thanks,RR

THe only place I trust to do the job 100% correct in your area is Dan Baisley. He is one of the few in the country that sets up heads correct including rocker to valve stem geometry.
Here is his info:
5511 N Interstate Ave
Portland, OR 97217-4525
(503) 289-1251
Make sure 100% that you talk to Dan himself.
