What do I do now ??

RE: What do I do now ??
That's good info Randy...
How I apply it to my scenario would be... if I want to push higher RPM's get the cam for it and I can use the 50mm TB. What Phil and you are saying, due to me not really wanting higher RPM's but more low and middletorque like the rest of the Geritol group I should leave my 46mm TBin (as it would not make a noticeable difference to go 50mm)and choose my cam carefully for"my" proper effect.
However, if I did go to the 50mm TB I would have the "ability" (as long as the rearTB venturi are large enough) to go to a stronger cam thus giving me reachable higher RPM's. (if I wanted them) but not necessarily higher HP or TQ because they flattenout at higherRPM'sand... even if I went with the suggested HQ or Andrews the 50mm TB would work but I may see a little loss of bottom end torque but very little depending on how good the dyno tuner guy is.
OK, OK... I see now... thanks for the guiding light. I think I get it.
HP and TQ are measured in small increments that sometimes require large changes to achieve the desired effect. So, in my case it is best to leave the TB the hell alone and go with a cam to suite my needs with as few modifications to the motor as possible, again the suggested HQ-0034 or Andrews 26 that are proven to be effective, and leave the 255's out of my bike because I don't run enough compression or C.I.'s
Well... knock me over with a feather!

RE: What do I do now ??
reksul: I have an '04 EG with a bone stock 88, except for HQ-0034 cams installed at 44K miles, Rinehart TD's, SE a/c, and a mild SERT tune.
I am not a big fan of dyno numbers but for info purposes only it dynoed at 81 hp and 90 torque; no pinging or decel popping in the last 5K miles since installation and tuning.
More important than dyno numbers, I had the opportunity to ride with PhilM a couple of months ago when he visited Georgia and he thought I had one of the strongest running 88's he'd seen.
When Doug Coffey of HQ sold me the cams he told me "Rinehart TD'sare terrible for hp/torque in my application." I had no problem with that as I like the appearance and love the sound of the TD's. So, if I wanted an even stronger 88 I would probably just get a good 2-1 pipe.
As for the larger throttle body, my friend Kevin, "Pirateye" on the HDF, did an HQ 95" build with 10.5:1 pistons and the HQ-0039 cams that makes 110+/110+ hp/torque on his '06 EG Classic. Doug specifically recommended not changing the stock throttle body on that build.
Pre-cam change, my 88 dynoed at 75 hp and 78 torque. So the improvements from the cams have been significant and a lot of fun.

RE: What do I do now ??
Nice to see another GA face
Yeah, I am being pushed in the direction of the HQ cams as you can read. Probably the ticket. One thing I am not interested in is a 2-1 though. Not a fan of the look and a ghost pipe is fine for some but I don't think for me. I really like the sound of my SE I pipes and will probably keep them.
All this learning has given me a head ache but being the new guys on the block I sure have learned a lot from these guys. Sure is nice of them to take their time with me.
Where are ya in Ga?

reskul: Just down Hwy 92 from you in Roswell. We have similar ideas; I swapped my black calipers with an HDF member for silver ones from an '05 SE Ultrafor the same reasons you did.
There is a great SERT tuner nearby, Pirateye on the HDF, should you need one.
Send me a PM and let's take a ride.

Hey guys… got my cams in and just got off the phone with Pirateye. Had a great conversation and he is willing to get’r done. Thank you to HarleyPingman for the hook up. Yes Phil, we talked about you too! LOL
So, I had the chance to ride an 05 RK with the SE204’s and 04 Ultra with the HQ34’s. I was green with envy. Both had the power and torque range I liked. The stealership was open so I marched in and got the SE204’s and a set of adjustable pushrods and new set of lifters. (that was about the extend of my mad money anyway) I went home and slapped them in and changed all oils to synthetic (not HD) while I was at it.
I did find out the 110ci cvo SE255 cams will not fit the 88’s. The cam journals are bigger on the 255’s for the front and rear cam bearings. The cam plate for the 07’s are having issues as the cam rides on a film of oil and are tearing up the cam plate between 13k and 18k miles, so I hear. I put the cams side by side and saw they were different so this is a fact. The cam plate info I read here and others have confirmed.
OK, so I brought up the oil pressure and put the plugs back in… She fired right up with the sweetest deep sexy tone and a very pleasing cam lop. Whoooo Yoooooo!
Took her out for a test ride and again today for a 3 hour two up ride. Man-o-man… big difference. Now, a great tune will give very enjoyable rides… I like it! With the new rear tire and tru-track she runs like she’s on a rail. No more bouncing and wiggling around turns and the power to roll right through. YES!!
Guys.. I can’t thank you enough for your help and understanding of my situation.Thank you, Thank you! ! ! !
Stay Safe -> Reksul =)
