Default Cam question

I recently bought a 99 flstc and I had to put it in the shop to replace the base gasket. When I was in the shop I found out the previous owner had a se-11 cam installed along with adj pushrods,SE performance valve springs and the heads milled. What would be my next step in performance mods? Also, I have read that the se-11 cam is for lighter bikes. Would this be hurting my heritage, which to me is a larger bike. Thanks for any input!!

It would mostly depent on your ridding style and if you are enjoying the cams right now.

If you ride 2 up alot or if you feelyouneedmore torque down low then a cam change would be your next step. The S&S.570 cam or the Head Quarters 0039 or .575 cams wouldbe some nice alteratives.

Well, all seems well with the cam it has now. I will be riding 2 up with my wife when we travel anywhere for a get together, other than that it's just me taking shorter rides. I just wasn't sure about this cam because everywhere I have looked it says for lighter bikes. I don't know what most of the other Heritage riders are putting in their bikes but it seems like the Andrews cam is really popular. I have only had this bike for about a month now and I am getting the cylinders honed and new rings, and all the gaskets replaced and figured while they had it disassembled I might as well get anything else done to it that could help performance. I know from the shop that he had the heads milled and new SE springs put on but I am not sure if he had them port and polished. Thanks for the advice.

I would go with Andrews, they seem to be popular on this forum. I will be going with the 37 on mine in the next month or two.

Lighter bikes just means it doesn't have the low end grunt that a bigger bike may need. You won't harm your bike by running that cam, only change it if you don't like the way it pulls for your riding needs. I would check to see if it hadtorrington cam bearings in there, if not, get them. If the lifters have more than 30,000 miles on them, replace them too. Check the condition of the cam shoes as well.
