Default carb. modification cv40

Here's my question. I have a 03 carbed 88, with free flow exhaust and a stage one S.E. breather. I replaced the slow speed and main jets to one size larger and drilled outthe fuel mix screw. I thought this was the right thing to do for a non-racer. My son who has the same H. D. took his to a H.D. dealer in So. Cal. for the same modification and they replaced the slide with a sportster slide (27585-88). No other mod. was done. Are both of theses fixes exceptable or am I dead wrong. Appreciate any help. Olrider.

I have put Dyno-Jet kits in all of my bikes with carbs and they make a big difference but you do get a few more parts than just the jets however if yours runs good and you are happy with it you did fine.
