Default RE: ENGINE BUILD ADVICE

ORIGINAL: BM83

I have a 2007 road glide that I'm building as a 103". I am asking for some advice on the build from some folks with experience in this area or from some who have done something similar and can give real world results. I ride to work every day about 100 miles round trip and do some two up riding with luggage on occasion. I want to get better performance but do not want to have detonation issues or a significant loss of torque in the low end. Wondering what commpression, cam profiles, and heads to go with. Right now I have the SE air cleaner and rinehart true duals with SERT and oil cooler. I have the big bore cylinders but have held off on the heads, cams, and pistons until I can get a good idea on which way to go.
Thanks in advance
Jason
I wouldtake a hard look at the R&R stuff, ask Joe's Cycle and the guys at Latus how easy their stuff is to tune, the rippin power and how cool they run.

What is the best way to get one of the HQ or similar set-ups installed. I don't have the time or tools to do it myself. Should I hook up with a good Indy shop and have them do the teardown and new install of the ported heads and cams?

Contact Wilson Cadle..... He does a ton of HQ builds in your area and then see Kevin Baxter for a tune.

You are VERY lucky to have Kevin so close!!!! He is one of the best SERT tuners out there!

I will PM you an email address to contact Wilson....

I agree HQ does great work. But for what you described, I'd suggest a mild porting of the heads, S&S 585 cams, compression around 10:1. Properly tuned with your pipes this setup will run quietly, be easy on the valve train, and make over 100 HP and over 110 lbft Tq.

He said that he didnt want to sacrifice on low end torque! S&S .585s = big torque dip.

and the HQ setups will deliver 15 to 20 more HP. and torque.
