Rush Slip Ons Whistle on Decel?

Rush Slip Ons Whistle on Decel?
I've been trying to find what I feel is a good sounding slip on for my 2007 FXDL. I tried the V&H's and now the Rush straight cut slip ons with the 1.75 baffle. They DO have a deeper sound than the Vance & Hines mufflers, but they whistle ever so slightly on decel. It doesn't seem to be a joint leaking...sounds like it's coming from the end of the muffler. Anyone else have this sound with theirs?
Thanks,
Russ

RE: Rush Slip Ons Whistle on Decel?
Well,
I'm playing around with these things right now and this is what I found...
I decided to take the baffles out and take a look at them. They are pretty much your standard louvered baffle, but they have packing around them. The packing was so loose that it wasn't even completely wraped around the core. I just ran the bike with NO packing and just the baffles for the heck of it, and it actually sounded better.
Right now, I'm waiting for it to cool down and then I'm going to re-wrap the baffles tighter and see how that sounds.
I've only ever had one other pipe whistle on me and that was the type with the tongue style baffle when I opened it up too much. I kept knocking the tongue down and it sound better and better until I got to the point where the tongue was almost flat...and then it started to whistle. I think they were Khrome Werks mufflers. Nothing against them though...it was my fault for trying to open them up too much.

RE: Rush Slip Ons Whistle on Decel?
I have rush straight cut 1.75 baffles and was horrified when I first heard the chirping, I've heard this sound on manybikes. I had a set of cycle shacks on my evo did the same thing. A lot of time it's stock mufflers with the baffles punched out. Mine gets better as the bike warms up. Over all I like the Rush mufflers. For the money I paid I can live with a little chirping, most people don't notice it. Best bang for the buck I've found.
