Suggestions on Jet size
I'm cleaning up my used scoot and am in the process of rebuilding the carb. It was running like sh**. The carb had some gumming and is now nice and clean. I pulled the jets to see what was in there. The main jet was a 170 and the pilot jet is unreadable. The previous owner used the wrong size screwdriver and buggered it up, it was a real pain to get out.
I checked the manual and HD shows the following jet size
Main 160
Pilot 72
This would be a good time to mention my scoot is a 1983 FXWG, and the carb is a Keihin butterfly with an accelerator pump. The bike has straight drags, but I am putting in J&J baffles to tame the sound a little and probably will install a better air cleaner.
What would you guys think for jet size to start with?
Thanks in advance.

RE: Suggestions on Jet size
I would get a new 160 and maybe a size leaner, and start there.
My bikes Mikuni cam with and 160 main, and it was too rich, Im running a 150 main on a 95 in! and Im in LA.
Just have patience and just to one change to the carb at a time and write down the changes of where you start and where you move to.
