Default Uneven sooting of mufflers

I have a 2007 Sportster XL1200C just coming up for it's first 1000mile dealer service. It has dealer fittedBaloney Screaming Eagle II Sideslash mufflers.Being the sad old git that I am, I polish the inside of the sideslash. What is now very noticeable is how the rear mufflerstays clean and shiny for a great deal longer than the front muffler. The front muffler soon darkens with a sooty deposite. Any likely reason for this uneven exhaust emmission?

Did you install a SERT map ? Now that you changed the configuration of the motor with pipes the fuel is off from more air traveling through the motor.

Hi Doc 1,

No idea what you are talking about but I will mention in to the dealer (who fitted the pipes) when it goes in for the 1000 mile service next week. Tks.

I was told this is normal due to the 70/30 split of the stock header pipe. mine is the same on a 07 road king.

my front muffler is a little darker than the rear but i'm not worrying about it. front cylinder may run richer or maybe cooler since it gets more air flow.. i don't really know or care....I believehaving a coat of soot is supposed to help keep the chrome cooler...not so succeptable to blueing

Just had the bike serviced. Talked to the mechanic about it. Apparently it is normal.
