Default 2006 Electra Glide Classic Mufflers

I just bought a new 2006 Electra Glide Classic, And want to put the HD Catalyst Mufflers for touring on... Does it have to be taken back in to get reprogrammed or can i just put the Mufflers on and that's it?

Some say if you are just changing the mufflers only you won't need to remap, BUT I just changed out mine to SE Slip-ons and have backfiring and popping on deceleration.

I've got the SERT and SE Intake, just haven't put on yet.

If your only going to install the Catalyst touring mufflers PN 80463-06 you shouldn't need to do anything. I think your dealer is not understanding what you want. The air cleaner and map is for Stage 1 heck for the 06 bikes Stage 1 is only the air cleaner and map, you don't need either to install the catalyst touring mufflers. Now if you was to install SE Pro mufflers or one of the many non catalyst performance mufflers then you might run a chance of the engine becoming lean.

Not sure about the sound of those, my guess is they will be just a touch louder than stock. I had a set on my 05 EG Classic for a few hundered miles before I did the Stage 2 to it. On my 06 Ultra I have the SE Pro mufflers and the stage 1 air filter and the SERT to map it with.

Was there a big difference? I might as well wait to do that...

To anyone who has removed a set of catalyst mufflers:

Is the cat only in the right pipe? You can tell by looking in the inlet.

There is a slight performance increase, not to mention it sounds much better than the stock mufflers.

Yes the cat is in the right side muffler, you can see it once you remove the muffler and look into the inlet side of the muffler.
