Default Painting a discolored chrome exhaust

I found a killer deal on a thunder header exhaust chrome. It was on a hot build so it’s discolored in some spots. Is it possible to paint it black? I’ve seen some videos on YouTube of people painting exhaust but wanted to get opinions on if it’s worth it or not. This exhaust is only $200 WITH the heat shields.

there are other colors also. with VHT you will be painting again, but at least you can do it. i have a 1974 ch painted and it is a constant issue as any little ding will start a rust spot.

so you think it would be worth it? A brand new thunderheader is $732 in black and 8-12 weeks out. I’m not in a rush but if I can save some $$$ getting this one and running it till I’m ready to coat it I’d rather do that.

Find a local guy that does JetHot, like powder coating but for high heat applications. Will hold well on the pipe.

IMO...depends on (1) how good you want it to look, (2) how long you expect it to last & (3) how much $$$ you're willing to invest. I would get it ceramic coated,

I’m willing to spend less than what it cost for a brand new one lol. Also would y’all lose the heat shields and just get the pipe coated like an original?

It's a Thunderheader, it's supposed to look like ****. You pay extra for that.

QC has a point ... Besides, what will you do when your new $750.00 pipe shows tuning problems? ... I'd clean it, shine whatever chrome is left and go rattle some windows
