Default anyone wrap there pipes??

has anyone wrapped there pipes with that wrap fiber stuff ? did you find it helped with the heat?

I used header wrap on the cat on my road glide, and on my son's sportster exhaust instead of heat shields. It was a big difference for both. The wrap was done under the shields on the road glide.

I'm not saying that you shouldn't use header wrap. Just understand you can cause problems with the integrity of the pipe. I had a set of Vance and Hines short shots on my Dyna at one point and one of the pipes was wrapped under the heat shield to keep heat off the legs. That pipe eventually cracked presumably due to heat held in by the wrap and moisture being held in possibly as well. Again, not saying don't do it. Just understand that you could crack a pipe and so be be ready to address that should it happen.

08 Heritage and wrapped my pipes under the heat shields. If you didn't know it was there you would never notice.
I also took off the stock mufflers (where the cats are) and between the wrap and no cats the felt heat is noticeably less!
