Default I accidentally scuffed up my chrome exhaust

I was trying to get the blueing off the exhaust from previous owner using Blue Job powder and I used a fine 0000 steel wool and dulled the chrome almost looking like aluminum now, but removed the blueing.

HELP!!! How do I get the chrome back on the exhaust?

thanks in advance

You can try a jewelry rouge but chrome is thin and a plating so you might take it off before you get it to shine.

Are you sure you used 0000? I use that to remove burned on crap, and to remove minor scratches. The best I’d suggest is use something like Turtle Chrome Polish, with what you are 100% certain is 0000 steel wool. But, if the chrome is gone it’s gone.

You can salvage those pipes by sanding down that area with a 2000 / 2500 grit wet / sand paper , then use a red / green jewellers rouge to polish that area . If you have a drill , get a polishing wheel for it and buff that area , you'll be surprised how nice it'll turn out . I've done plenty of steel polishing that turned out great , including a new set of brake rotors for my bike , give it a shot , at this point you have nothing to lose .
