Carb Probs on my 99 Sportster too much carb?
I'm having a problem with my 1999 Sportster 883 converted to a 1200. It runs fine for a bit then starts bogging out, maybe a backfire or 2 then just stops running and fouls my plugs. I have an S&S carb and the Harley dealership told me that it's too much carb for my bike and they can't adjust it down enough to do any good so I need to put a new carb on. I bought the bike the way it is. Oddly enough after going through the paper work on the bike I found that the same shop either rebuilt the same carb, installed the carb, or gave an estimate on the carb back in 03. Does any of this make sense?

RE: Carb Probs on my 99 Sportster too much carb?
Sounds like the Dealer just dosen't know how to tune a S&S. If it's a S&S super E then it's smaller then the Stock CV 40. If it's a Super G thenit is way to BIG. But it should still run and not die, It just won't perform as well. I'd do what TGrahamVA said contact S&S and ask them. They should walk you right through it, good luck......
