Popping on deceleration -- problem solved
I had popping on high RPM deceleration following a jet upgrade for
aftermarket pipes install.
The problem is inherent to ambient air entering the fuel delivery
circuit or entering the exhaust.
Check the rubber intake seal between the carb and intake manifold, it's common for it to be pinched or torn during re-install, allowing air into the fuel circuit. new seal is about $10.00 at the dealer.
One sign this is the problem, is there will feel that there is a little more power coupled with the popping, this is due to an higher air/fuel mixture created by the leak.
My setup is flawless for 88B with V&H slips ons with competition baffles, 46 low speed jet, 190 factory main jet, needle unmolested, good gas milage, good power.
