Default Swapping exhaust 2010 Street Glide

I bought a 2010 Street Glide with Screaming Eagle exhaust pictured. The bike had a Stage III SE upgrade when purchased new. I'd like to trade out the 2 into 1 header system for a 2 into 2 exhaust system. Will I need to retune the bike for an exhaust swap?

I like the looks of what you have. I think your tune should be fine, now if you were to dick with intake, that's another matter.

Thanks Kel, I just like the balanced look and sound of a 2 into 2. And this one is a little loud for me. Hoping to trade it out with someone that likes the 2 into 1. You're the 2nd one that's told me changing the exhaust probably won't call for a retune. Trying to avoid that $$ trip to the dealership. I like the looks of your 2010 Ultra. Have you ever thought about trading up to a newer bike for the stereo/GPS system?
thanks again,
Rat

Nope, I love this bike, simple and handles great compared to my 03 Road King, which really surprised me. Just put on some Pro Action shocks, and made it a carpet ride. So far, this will be my last bike, getting up there in age, but still staying straight up.

I will be the exception and state that changing the exhaust will definitely have a large impact on the tune. Can you get by with not retuning? Sure. But don’t you want it to run it’s best? I’ve been tuning bikes for many years and I can assure you that I’ve never seen someone go from a 2 into 1 exhaust to a true dual and not benefit greatly from a retune. Now, if your dealership doesn’t have an experienced tuner, don’t go there. Find someone with real experience in tuning— it will be money well spent.

Well, you're not the exception so far, it's one vote apiece. Just curious, do you think a true dual would run leaner than the exhaust I have now?

You will definitely need a re-tune.

I would have the bike tuned for the new exhaust if you want it to run its best. I could be wrong but I would bet the new tune will require pulling some fuel out as the true duals will flow a bit less without the jugs working together to pull the exhaust gasses out. As mentioned, I could be wrong but I am sure I will be corrected by someone more in the know...

what kind of tuner do you have? if it's a dyno jet or fuel pak 3 it's not hard to throw a basic tune in an run auto tune. I don't think it would run very well without a retune.
