Default Stage 1 air filter

Hey guys, I just cleaned my filter with the K&N cleaner. I keep reading everywhere that I'm supposed to "oil" the filter before putting it back on my bike.
My questions is, what kind of oil are they talking about ?.. and where do I oil it?.. thanks guys.

Do you have a HD filter or a K&N Filter? I think the HD's are not oiled.

I use K&N filter oil which I got at DennisKirk.com. The instructions are on the bottle. Essentially, you spray each pleat once and let it sit about 10 minutes. The any white areas are sprayed again. Then put it on.

It's gotta be a harley one because they installed it, I'm pretty sure if it was K&N, it would say it somewhere.
I already cleaned it, I was just hesistant to put it back on without "oiling it"...

Thanks.

Look at the filter media and see if it looks like paper or gauze. If it is gauze chances are that it is a K&N and then needs to be oiled. Call the dealer who put it on to be sure, they haven't used K&N filters in the stage 1 kits in some time now.

My "earlier" EVO SE hi-flow filter was to be oiled. But my newer EVO SE hi-flow says right on the metal plate "DO NOT OIL". Does yours?

Was it pink/red when it was new? If so, the oil is what gives it the red color. You can get the K&N filter oil at autozone. Probably other auto shops as well.

Just cleaned/oiled mine with the $10 K&N Autozone kit. 10,000 miles and barely dirty.

Wow - they make an awesome filter - soak it with water and it stays 100% intact. QUALITY thru and thru.

ThatStage 1 HD white/blue air filter is a POS!!!

K&N is literally indestructable - Harley's is made ofTOILET PAPER.

Thanks to everybody who replied to my post. After cleaning it, the lettering showed up and it says K&N and "Caution Oil before use"... so, I guess I'm off to Autozone to find that oil kit... now.. how do I oil this thing?... does anybody know?.. Do I cover the whole thing in oil or just the black edge that touches the metal plate?

Thanks again.
