exhaust support bracket for FLHR 95
Hello,
I own a FLHR from '95
I've just welded my exhaust near the rear cylinder...just before the break down!
I find that the exhaust left side move too much even if it is well attached... it vibrates a lot and more at the left side.
Does anyone know if exist additional brackets to strengthen the assembly of the exhaust?? between the cylinder and the little brackets under the saddlebags..
TY by advance ... from Belgium ;-)

Hi from the UK. You can check the stock arrangement on a parts website, where you will see there is no such bracket. I'm surprised at that, as on my 1990 Glide, which I bought new, there was a bracket mounted on the starter motor, close to the rear head, which has been discontinued it seems. The entire exhaust system is supported from the engine and has to be ablt to move as the engine vibrates on it's rubber mountings, so give careful thought to any mods you make.

Thank you, grbrown... yes, you 've right...never seen such a bracket.
30 years ago I worked as mechanic by the Harley dealer in Luxembourg, so, I've order for customers a lot of parts ;-).. but never seen something like that.
I understand that, with the rubber mounting it must be a little bit loose but maybe possible to build it with a strong rubber (car exhaust mounting silentbloc) ..
I don't know about a little bracket mounted on the starter.... I will do some research about it

Use the link I gave to look at earlier bikes, like my 1990 FLHS, where you will see the extra parts. Unfortunately they don't show much detail, but may give enough for you to work something out.
I had problems with a set of true dual pipes some years ago, which couldn't use my stock bracket for the rear/left pipe and like your set-up didn't support that pipe properly. I eventually gave up on them and went to a 2-into-1 which is far superior in so many ways, including being well supported on my bike.

Part #35 is just a flat piece of sheet steel, cut to that shape and painted black. Part #24 is essentially a robust C-clamp with a support bracket welded onto it and was chrome plated. It takes a lot of heat, being close to the exhaust port. Part #18 is a robust panel clip with an integral nut, similar to this:
Sorry - it wasn't supposed to be quite so big!
