Torque cones do have their practical applications. They're by no means the ultimate exhaust performance mod, however they made my stock TC88" Softail with a baffless SE Pro Pipe scream low end.
Let's just say they have their applications, but are notthe advertised or endorsed cheaper "cure all" they are often mistaken for.

Torque cones are a bandaid to cover the injury caused by crappy pipes. Get good pipes instead of wasting money on torque cones. You can probably find stock HD header pipes on ebay or takeoffs that a dealer has laying around for cheap. Add inexpensive slip-on mufflers and you're set.

Yes, the torque cones will restorean appreciable amount of the lost low end torque. The cones are worth the money if you're looking for a cheaper performance alternative (in your drag pipes),to a new performance exhaust system.
