I picked up a used Vance and Hines Pro Pipe for my 2008 Roadking but it does not have holes for the O2 sensors. Did I goof up? The intructions just says for 07-08 models uses a different mounting bracket but nothing about the O2 sensors.. Thanks in advance.

 

There should be 18 mm sensor holes near where the pipes meet the heads. If not then the pipes you have are not for a 07-08 bike.

 

I would return the pipes because obviously they were incorrectly marked. If you can't, then you can get the O2 bungs welded into your head pipes.

 

It seems V&H does not make this pipe with o2 sensor holes on purpose. They want you to buy their Fuel Pak to be used to make the bike run correctly.. I guess I need a fuel pak now

 

Smells like B.S. If they intended that the pipes had to be used with the tuner they want to up sell you, it should be stated on the website with the product description. Not a very ethical business practice.
If it was me, I would be pissed and get my money back, then buy another system that's set up for that bike. There's quality alternatives out there and most cost less than V&H, leaving you some cushion if you decided later you wanted a tuner.

 

I bought the pipes on craigslist. It does say on the V&H website that 07-08 need the tuner. It looks like they changed the o2 sensor size for 09. I didnt even know my bike had o2 sensors until after i bought the pipes. Its my fault so now I have to fix it.

 

Actually Vance and Hines Pro pipes on their website says that Oxygen sensor bung plugs are required for 05-06 models which would indicate if they were for your 08, they would have 02 bungs.

It looks like the pipes I bought were produced before 2008. They do not have o2 sensor holes. The newer pipes have the holes regardless of year and plugs available for models without o2 sensors. Now I either have to get a fuel pak and eliminate the o2 sensors or weld in bungs to put sensors in the pipes.

 

If you change the pipes, you will need a tuner regardless.

 

Some 2007 Touring bikes and all 2008 models came with O2 bungs. Makes V&H policy seem a little strange! The SuperTrapp I have on my bike is for a 2008 model and came with the holes.
