Default 06 Sportster Slip On Help

Hi all.

Recently bought a used 06 1200C. Was trying to put new slip on exhausts on it because I wasn't really digging the sound of the current ones.

I bought some Rip Rod slip on exhausts, got them shipped to me and went to install them. After getting everything off, I looked and I have a crossover pipe going from the front to the rear headers, exactly where the slip ons are suppose to go. The slip ons I got sent have a port for the slip ons. The crossover pipe is welded on, it ain't coming off, and the slip ons won't go over them, clearly.

I called the company and told them what was going on, they said they should fit my bike, and if not I can return them, and then they said I would have to buy a full system exhaust if I still was trying to replace my current one. I attached some pictures.

From what I was reading it looks like the models after this one 07+ headers were like this. Is it possible I just have later model headers on and just need to order later model slip ons?

You can see the crossover pipe is welded on to the header in this picture

it looks like someone put 2014 or later front header pipes on your bike. according to the parts diagrams, the mufflers that they sent to you are correct for your year, but your head pipes are not. you could try to find some used, take off's and install them and you would be able to run what they have sent to you. I cant imagine that the right stuff would be to hard, or too expensive to find on ebay. you just need the correct head pipe., 2006-2013, maybe as early as 2004, but i'd have to check the diagrams again.

Thanks! You think it would be fine if I just ordered slip ons for a later hd model then? Already returned the other slip ons
