Default stock pipe modify

has any one out there ever tried welding a plug or restrictor in the rear crossover pipe on a '05 bagger? or can you see any problems doing so. i would like to retain the stock appearance yet try to get a more even flow through each muffler without using the tru duels. at the same time i'm going to the SE slip-ons,SE air filter and the power cammander. this is on a '05 electra glide that is factory stock and runs and starts flawlessly so i am a little nervous in fixing something that doesn"t need fixing .

WHOA cowboy,.... no need to put a restiction in the stock pipe they work just fine with se II slip ons. not to mention no real way to do that without making the chome look VERY bad after you weld in the pipe. You are on the right track there with you parts list so far that is, stay away from the true duals they are not your freind when it comes to a 88inch bike that is stock unless you are looking to give up some of your bottom end tq

Don't know about the new bikes, but the stock exhaust on the old dressers (Shovel era) already had an orifice in the rear pipe between the point where the left pipe attached and where the pipe attached to the right pipe.

You'll find that the crossover actually helps performance and that plugging it will hurt more than help you here.
