Default Comparing the HQ0039 vs. 37G vs. TW-6G

I have been told that these three cams are comparable to each other but with different “personalities”. I am looking for direct comparisons between the Head-Quarters HQ-0039-G, Andrews 37G and Woods TW-6G cams. The good, the bad, and the ugly. Looking for those that have run at least any two[/b] of these cams in the same bike[/b] and how they compare to each other as far as advantages, drawbacks, performance, reliability, engine life, mileage, requirements necessary to install or run them (compression/octane, special procedures above and beyond bolting-in), etc. Also, how do you ride the bike that you have used these in? Mild, moderate, like ya stole it? City only, highway only, mixed? Single, two-up, stripped or fully packed for a trip? Compare any two (or three if you have gone that far) and why one was or was not better or worse than another. Builders, riders… all opinions contributed here would make an easier comparison than looking at a bunch of different posts and sorting out the opinions and other parameters. Thanks for the feedback!

Default RE: Comparing the HQ0039 vs. 37G vs. TW-6G

It really depends on what the rest of your build is going to be........CR, displacement, headwork?

The 37G's like around 9.8-1.....any more then that and they are very likely to ping. Most of the builds with the 37's are around 100/100.

The Tw-6G cams like 9.5-10.5 compression, and seem to do around 110 torque/100 hp in most of the builds.

The HQ-0039G cams like 9.5-10.5 compression, and with the right build are well known to do 115/115 +.

Headwork will benefit any build, more displacement helps out as well, and of course getting the CR right for the cams is key too. Exhaust has a big roll in how a build responds.....a good 2-1 will do wonders.

If someone has not tried all 3 cams, in the same bike,(and dyno'd) then any data is not really going to have comparison relevance. Like maine said, the right cam for you is going to be matching up the profile of the cam with the rest of the details of your build.
