Anyways, just bought a 95 fatboy, been riding it for a week, its my 5th bike so I have a clue on this, I THINK>
I was runnin down the highway and decided to get into it a bit for the 1st time.. took it up to 95 and let back down to 65 , about 3 miles later the limit changed to 45, so I backed out the throttle untill 45 and gave it some to keep speed.When I rolled back into the gas it acted liked like it was runnin out of fuel, I rolled on and off the throttle (slowly) about 4 times, then gave in a hit reserve, as soon as I did , it ran fine again, put it back into <on to see if that was my problem and it never gave me a issue the rest of the way home, about 15 miles.. any ideas??
evo motor, S&S super E, drag pipes, dyna 200 ignition I think the timing might be advanced a bit far, its a bitch to start when ythe motors hot, could timing be a issue with the cutting out?

 

Do you still have the stock vacuum operated petcock? If so check out the vacuum line from the carb to the VOES and to the petcock, make sure there is no dry rot. The diaphram in the petcock could be going bad also. I say this because it sounds as if you were running out of fuel...if it was the ignition I'd think it would be more obvious and more consistent in repeting the problem. Ifthere is a problem with the vacuum system you getting on and off the throttle would make high vacuum and low vacuum which couldbe shutting down the gas flow.
Just a place to start looking
