Exhaust upgrade for '05 Springer Classic (newbie ?)
Hello,
I'm going to jump right in as a newbie with an exhaust question. I want to upgrade the stock exhaust on my '05 Springer Classic (fuel injected) to a louder and more stylish pipe. Performance is a consideration in that I don't want to degrade performance, induce any mechanical problems or tuning issues, and simply get the job done using 'best practices'. I've read a bit on Vance & Hines and Samson dual exausts, but know just enough to be dangerous. I have not talked to my Harley dealer about their exhaust options beyond price range of Screaming Eagles and whether to go with fishtails or other tips. We did not get into a tuning discussion or anything technical.
Can you folks experienced with dual exahust upgrades shed some light on this subject for me? Should I look beyond V&H and Samson for this particular bike? What do I need to know about other fuel system or related upgrades/tuning that will need to be done with an exhaust upgrade? And how much should I expect to spend?
I would really all the help and opinions I can get on this.
Thanks,
Jerry
