I ordered a Ness Big Sucker Stage I air filter kit. I went to install it and it does not fit on the 2006 bikes! I've got a call in to Custom Chrome and Arlen Ness to find out what is wrong. So I may be forced to go with the Screaming Eagle Air Filter kit.

Anyone else experience this? The mounting bosses don't extend far enough to mount to the cylinder heads.

 

I had the same problem and that was after asking Arlen Ness which one to order for an 06 Deluxe. After calling Ness a few times they agreed to send me a new backing plate for the 06 as soon as they get it redesigned. They admitted they didn't realize Harley had changed the injected bikes air cleaner mounting. If you haven't got anything out of them you might give them a call and see if they'll do that for you also.

same problem here......wanted to Ness, but nothing for my 06 FLSTI....had to go with the SE. Works well.

 

Just so I'm clear on this . The big sucker doesn't fit the 06 FI models right. You don't know if they fit the carbed models still or not.

 

I know for sure that the EFI models require a different backing plate but I don't know about the carb models. Ness has already redesigned the one for the EFI models but I don't think it's out yet. Call them to get the specifics.

 

The current Big Sucker kit fits all 99 - 06 carburetor Twin Cam 88 engines. It also fits 99 - 05 EFI Twin Cam 88 engines.

It does not fit 06 EFI bikes due to the change in the EFI length.
