Default TC88 - head breathers bolts - unfiltered?

Hey All.
am riding an international spec '06 FXDBI.
have the original air filter setup (it comes with the flap intake valve) with the filter element upgraded to the K&N piece.
the head breather bolts are vented to the filtered side of the air filter, dumping all the oily mist into the engine.

now, i was thinking maybe i should plug the holes in the back of the filter and remove thetwo little rubber hoses, leaving the head breather bolts exposed to puke thier gooey mix into the outside of the air filter.

myconcern is weather debree could get sucked into the motor via these breathers?

You're not concerned about "dumping all the oily mist" all over you bike? Or worse yet, all over the earth?

Search around (or maybe someone else can find a link) for a DIY filtered breather / catch setup. I made a temporary one with the breather horseshoe crossover, some clear tubing, a barbed plastic T fitting, a removable plug for draining the oil buildup and a filter hose clamped on the breather side of the T.

Of course you could buy ahe expensive aftermarket breathers. I believe Doherty makes a sweet breather system that doesn't put the oil into the air filter.

There are a few ways to ensure the mist is kept to a min. First ensure that that oil pump is properly aligned. Second you can open the hole in the rocker support by 1/16 to allow the oil to drain back, many times there is flashing from the casting in the support, thirdly you can open the breather bolt holes up slightly. This will stop almost all of the misting. Or you can but the Mist free system. The are made just down the street from us. WE sell and install them. Either way it can be taken care of.

On a stock motor with typical mileage, you should not really notice engine oil coming out of the filter.
If you do, it's most likely that it has too much oil in the engine.

Even on stock engines you can have the issue. I have seen oil pumps not aligned from factory, flashing in the drain hole for rocker support.
