V&H quiet baffles

V&H quiet baffles
I installed the V&H quiet baffles in my 2006 Superglide BSS exhaust system tonight. First of all, after removing the original baffles, I fired her up last night to see if there was much difference. There was little difference,a little louder, but not much.
I did use some clear packing tape to compress the fiberglass on the quiet baffles to aid in the installation. Isprayed them lightly with wd40 to help also. Either the tape or wd40 is burning/melting as the exhaust is smoking some and it stinks! Once it gets all burnt up, it should be fine, I hope!!
The sound is definately a slightly lower tone, not exactly what I was hoping for, but lower. It is definately quieter. Still plenty loud though.Perhaps I should try the BCTbaffles? Anyone put them in a V&H exhaust system?
I had to remove the heat shields to get to the bolt that holds the baffles. All togather, probably took an hour. Longest part was getting the worm clamps to line back up!

RE: V&H quiet baffles
Sorry the install didn't go as well as you would have liked.
Was it really that tough to fit them in that you needed packing tape and wd40?
Anyone out there have any better (cleaner) ideas to aid in the installation of these baffles?
What can you tell me about the BCT baffles?

RE: V&H quiet baffles
The baffle installation was easy. I read about using thin wire or tape to aid in installation. I opted for the tape as I didn't want the wire rattling around in there. Of course, you couldn't hear the wire if it was rattling anyway!!! Also read about using wd-40.

RE: V&H quiet baffles
i installed mine just as is. took me about 10 minutes. didn't fuss with additional tape or any wire. use a twisting method as your inserting them and it should be fine. the quiet baffles are not a lot quiter. 4db according to my measurement. before purchasing them i called BCT baffles and ask them about theirs. they said the v&h baffles quiet and regular are both quieter than the ones they make. i asked for a custom application for a quiet version and they said no can do.
