Gear Drive Install - Gear Lash??
Installing the Andrews TW-26G gear drives in my TC88. Install instructions say to check in four positions for the outer cam gear to pinion gear - gear lash. I have like (0.0005 - 0.001 lash in the four positions. But, about four teeth (in between two positions)it tightens up and don't feel any lash. Same position where the crank shaft has about 0.0015 out of round (which is within the 0.003 spec). Wondering if the gears will lossen up a bit and I'll be fine or I should try an undersized pinion gear (which is like $100).
Has anyone else gone to the undersized pinion gear? Where did you order it from?
Thanks,

RE: Gear Drive Install - Gear Lash??
You will be fine with what you have now....as the engine heats up the cam plate grows and the gears seperate from each other. I set all mine up from 0 to .0005, some will whine for a minute or so but run very quiet at opperating temp.
Now if your gears are BINDING you will have a problem, but as long as it turns freely your good to go.
.0015 runout on your pinion shaft is awesome!!
