Default Remove packing leave baffles in Cobra slip ons?

Anyone remove insulating packing around baffle and put bare baffle back in. What are the pros and cons. Sounds better.

I know this is an old thread but I hope others will respond if anyone else has since this was first posted. I did remove the packing from my Cobra slip ons and left the baffles in. Sounds much better. No change in performance. Will I run into problems later? Will my chrome start bluing? As of right now I love it and don’t plan on putting the packing back in.

I bet it did change performance but it's so small you didn't notice. You "could" have some bluing but pick your poison. Do you prefer the sound over looks?

I definitely prefer the sound. I hear that the bluing is on cheap chrome mufflers. Cobras quality is on the better side. I usually only ride on the weekends during the summer months. 4000-5000 miles per year. Im thinking thats not enough to cause any bluing. Hopefully.

I removed the packing on mine when I installed the magna flow true duels. I love the sound and yet to see any bluing. I did have to get fuel moto to send me a new fuel map to accommodate the duels.

all you will do is change tone, there will be no increase in power although the BUTT dyno says so.
that baffle is a flow through perf. when a pressure wave flows from the head into the baffle, some of the wave passes through the baffle holes, reflect off the outer tube back into the main stream cancelling 180* out of phase wave. by adding resistance aka the packing, the tone is controlled.

Yeah I love the sound and I definitely agree with the possible butt dyno. Im 100% happy. Im just more so worried about it bluing later. Im not the type to spend money and want to spend it again because of either a mistake, unhappy with something or just because a newer better version of something came out because the masses like it. I stick with whatever decisions I’ve made but.. it cant become cosmetically tacky or not performing as it should.
