Default 05 springer carb questions

So I have a couple of problems. 1st one is when my bike is warmed up and running it idles high. Not sure where I adjust this on my Carb. I think it is the screw above the spring? 2nd question is on Deceleration the bike backfires out the muffler. I did have a stage 1 kit done so I think it is running rich. Any idea how I fix that? is there a adjustment for air/fuel on the stock carb? Thanks for the help!

I had a look there and I guess I was hoping I did not have to drill that plug out to stop the carb from running rich. I look at my right side tail pipe and it is black. The other tailpipe is alot cleaner. I think most of the exhust comes out the right side like 60/40. I think.

What "kit" do you mean? If you added a DynoJet or Yost Powertube or that kind of thing to your carb, it's going to be rich. If someone put in new jets it's going to be rich. All you need with your carb is the stock jets along with the '88-'89 1200 Sportster needle for the idle jet. The Sporty needle is a little smaller, effectively making the idle circuit a little richer. More fuel on the bottom end is what you want. The stock main jet is fine the way it is.
If a kit was added to your carb, the A/F mixture plug should be already drilled out. The idle speed can be adjusted with the screw on the outside of the carb. Don't go any lower than 900rpm on a warmed up bike.

The screw to adjust the idle speed is on the top right hand side of the carb, angled so you're looking right at the head of the screw as you peer in there. Pretty sure all CV carbs are the same. Adjust the idle speed only after the engine is at normal operating temperature.
