RE: slip ons install help
thanks for the responses.... went on without a hitch.. pretty quick actually installed the slip ons, the k & n filter stage 1, the pc111. finished it all in about an hour and a half.... only issue I have that really concerns me is the right side slip on seems to leak at the clamp.. it is tight, as tight as I dare without snapping the bolt.. but I can feel some exhaust leaking when I put my hand around the area.. I am worried this will cause me some discoloring in the future any advise on that one???? other than that the 2.0 rush seem too quiet for me I think I may have to spend more now on the 2.5 just hope there is enought of a difference to make it worth it... and I get some decel popping especially when cold seems the longer I run it the less I get...hmmm going to call jamie at fuel moto in am to inquire about it since that is where I purchased everything from....any advice???

RE: slip ons install help
Hi,
The post below is a copy of one I made for a guy who was having similar problems as yourself.
I also have recently fitted Rush 1.75 slipons to my 07 FXSTC andexperienced popping on decel. The sparkplugsprior to fitting were a light grey colour. After fitting the mufflers I rode the bike about 250kms (170 miles) and rechecked the plugs and found them to be a slightly darker grey with a small black band on the electrode tip -my bike is run on 98 octane premium unleaded.
I contacted Rush via email and received the same info as XTROOPER3936 has posted andsame advice as OLDTIMER OF NM has stated; ie no need for a re-map with 1.75" and check the muffler clamp area for leaks.
I checked for exhaust leaks when first starting the bike by putting my hand near the front clamp and could feel the hot exhaust pulse. Further, I checked both slip on clamp areas by using a dribble of water and watching for a fine spray from the exhaust leak - mine was leaking at both mufflers.
Respected poster SHOVELHEADBOB gave me advice to refit the mufflers using Hi-Temp Copper Muffler Silicone Sealant at the muffler joints to ensure there is an air tight fitting and follow the instructions on the silicone tube allowing it to cure for 24 hours.
Since refitting the mufflers and again checking for leaks (no leaks!) I have ridden the bike about 400kms (250 miles) and have found there has been a reduction in the amount of decel popping - poppingnow only occurs at lower revs on decel. I have checked the sparkplugs and found they are a light grey to tan colour on the electrode.
Just on the sparkplug colours both plugs are a darker greyon the side facing the inlet, light grey to tan colour on the top, and, lighter grey on the exhaust side - I guess there must not be too much combustion swirl in 96cu Harley Heads.
My bike is otherwise stock standard and since fitting the mufflers I have found the bike runs and sounds great - I do not believe it has any more power, however, it seems to cruise a bit better in 6th gear at 60 to 70mph.
I am presently ordering 1.50" baffles to replace my 1.75" - I want to experiment and see if the increased back pressure of the smaller baffles will further reduce and / or eliminate the remaining decel popping without making the bike too quiet.
Like CITORIPLUS the header pipes on my bike turnedto gold and blue from standard. There has been no further change in colour since fitting the slip-on mufflers.
On last thing, I did not have much confidence in the original muffler bolts so when refitting the mufflers I purchased new 5/8" long high tensile bolts with spring and flat washers to use in place of the original bolts with non-permanent thread lock on the threads. It is also my understanding that Harley recommends using new muffler clamps when refitting mufflers.
I trust this post has been of assistance and my thanks goes out to those who have assisted me.
Safe riding,
