Bassani Road Rage too quiet
I went for a couple years with Short Shots with Big City Thunder baffles. I liked them but thought I could get a bit more low-mid range power with a 2 into 1 system so picked up this Bassani Road Rage. Part number is 1X22R , 1800-1556 (off the box).
Installed it, flashed a canned tune from Fuel Moto and fired it up. First impression, quiet, REALLY quiet. Sounds like stock exhaust if not quieter.
Basically looking to make this pipe a bit louder. Would like something between the loud Short Shots I had and what I have now. Don't want stupid loud but don't want to sound like a Honda either...
Has anyone pulled the baffles out of one of these? I know it'll run like poop with no baffles but thinking maybe to mod them (pull the glass wrap off if it has it, maybe even cut it shorter) or replace the baffle with something else. There's a Bassani "performance baffle" out there as well as a "quiet baffle". Not sure which one I have but can't imagine its not the quiet one. Not even certain those 2 fit this system. I expect BCT also has one that will fit.
I figured it would come out easily since it has less than 100 miles on it but not so much. Tried to pull it this morning, bike dead cold; removed end cap and removed screw holding the baffle but its in there solid. Couldn't move it at all by hand, either pulling or twisting. I'm sure I can get it out with tools but thought I'd see what folks had to say before I did that to see if its even worth doing.

Thanks. Recall any trouble getting the baffle out? This one feels welded in and the pipe is really new...

OK, got this done. Getting the baffle out was a bitch. Here's the easy way: pull the muffler off the pipes, get something a couple feet long with a flat end (I used a piece of 1 inch steel pipe), out this in from the back up against the cross bar of the baffle. Give it a couple taps with a hammer. Baffle pops right out.
Here's what's inside:
The glass fiber part, the fuzzy stuff, was stock to the inside of the pipe really well. Took a bit of effort to get it out. Once that was out I looked at the baffle itself and decided to leave the mat (the other fiberglass component) on there. If I later decide to remove it the baffle goes in and out easily now.
Baffle back in, put everything back together.
sound is much better now, loud but not stupid loud. I don't expect this to affect my tune but even if I have to auto-tune again, well worth it.
