This is my first Harley so I am learning as I go. My sportster sputters & stalls while driving on the highway. After getting it started again it takes a few minutes to run but then drives ok till I try to drive on the highway again. It has 16k original miles and I only put on about 1200 since I bought it from a HD dealer.
Anybody have any ideas what could be causing this?

 

what year is it? sounds fuel related so as a first guess id suspect the vaccum operated petcock. is check with a real mechanic tho!!

 

The sportys have a intresting spot where the line is easy to knock off or crack, and that would cause the valve not to fully open, making the volume of fuel low.
